Join SNSC to support our groomed trails and receive the latest news and grooming updates! Luminary Ski, Divide Ski Area POSTPONED UNTIL SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13
Join us for an evening of winter cheer with illuminated skiing and snowshoeing! The easy loops (warmup loop and Sitzmark) will be lighted with ice and paper luminaria (candle lanterns). We'll have a bonfire and hot chocolate. Bring ski or snowshoe gear, headlamps if you have them, and warm layers. Optional items to bring include desserts, hot drinks, etc. to share. This event is family friendly and open to the public. If you would like to help with luminaria setup, please arrive right at 7pm and bring a lighter! Iditarod Days Skijor Fun Race Sunday, February 21
This five mile skijor fun run will be held at Bear Lake – easy terrain and great viewing. Race will simulate a mail run to commemorate Iditarod – all racers will have to pick up mail at designated parts of the course and deliver to the finish line. Mass (Le mans) or staggered start to be determined by number of entrants. Registration at 11:30 race day. Race starts at noon.
Costs: $10.00 for non- SNSC members $5.00 for Basic Level club members Free for Trail User and Trail Meister Members. Prizes for finishers. Skijor beginners welcome as long as dogs are healthy, have current vaccinations and are under hand control at all times – NO LOOSE DOGS. Be prepared to clean up after your dog. Early registration encouraged so you can familiarize yourself with trail protocol and tips for mass start to ensure a safe, fun run. Plans right now are for one dog only, but we may add a two dog category or a pulk race. Stay tuned.
Please use public access parking area on Old Sawmill Road. (There will be signs). Just take the Bear Lake turnoff, about 7 miles north of Seward and drive about 1.5 miles till you see Old Sawmill Rd and turn left. This event is sponsored by the Seward Nordic Ski Club and Seward Iditarod Trail Blazers. This event is being held in commemoration of the Iditarod Historic Trail Centennial Celebration. There will be activities through out the weekend including the Mayor’s Cup Sled Dog Race starting noon, Saturday, February 20 at Bear Lake followed by an evening program Saturday night on the history of the Iditarod and Seward’s place along the historic tail. Indoor/outdoor fun for all – come out and cheer on your favorite musher/skijorer!  The Seward Nordic Ski Club is a non-profit dedicated to the sport of Nordic skiing and to its devotees. We are made up of cross-country skiers from all walks of life, and we welcome new members and visitors. Seward is relatively unknown in the XC world, but we aim to change that.
